TAGBILARAN CITY – Tough talking PDP-Laban standard bearer Rodrigo Roa Duterte scored a high 41%, or 4 out of every ten registered Boholano voters, in recently concluded Bohol Poll 2016 even before his recent visit in the province.

The question posited by the survey was “if the elections were held today who do you referred to vote,” Pat Espiritu said during the public presentation of the survey results yesterday at Holy Name University AV hall.

Duterte’s contenders in the presidential race Liberal Party Mar Roxas came in far second with 27%. Independent hopeful Grace Poe and United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) Vice-Presient Jejomar Binay had 16% and 14%, respectively. Miriam Defensor Santiago, who did not make any campaign here, got 2% and another residential wanna-be Mel Mendoza, 0.1%.

Duterte, whose campaign sortie here described by political pundits as “phenomenon,” scored high in 3rd district with 50% even Roxas and Poe’s combined scores compared to (21 and 15, respectively) cannot surpass  him. Binay got 11% and Santiago, 2%.

Voters in first and second districts gave him 40% and 30%, respectively. While Roxas had 27% and 33%; Poe,17% and 15%; Binay, 13 and 19%; and Santiago, zero and 2%.

In this city, the voters gave him 42% over Roxas’ 26%; Poe’s 16%; Binay’s 11%; and Santiago, one percent.

Duterte also got 50% in urban areas and 37% in rural. Roxas had 22% and 28%; Poe, 19% and 15%; Binay, 5% and 12%; and Santiago, 2% and one percent.

Across classes, Duterte had the highest score of 43% from class D (middles class) and 38% from class ABC and 33% from class E.

Forty-eight percent (48%) of male registered voters voted for Duterte and 34% from females. While his opponents — Roxas with 20% and 33% (male and females); Poe,16% and 16%; Binay, 14% and 14%; and Santiago, one and two percent.

He is also popular among age groups. The (respondents) aged 18-24 gave him 51% of the votes; 42% from the aged 25-34; 39% among the aged 35-44; and 38% from 45 and above.

The presentation of the opinion survey yesterday was the 20th year since its inception in 1996, Espiritu said.

The polling was conducted on March 12 to April 4, 2016 with a total of 400 respondents with 100 each in every district and another 100 in this city. The margin of error for province-wide polling was +/-5. (rvo)
